After sitting through the horrendous B-grade flick, Primeval, me and LM went to get some grub before proceeding for our batting session. Ever since I discovered this place called “It’s a hit batting Cages” (pic of batting cage on the left) above the 1 Utama rooftop, I’ve been wanting to try it out. There were various packages available for the public, students and members. Fees are inclusive of helmets and bats. We took the 30 mins homerun package which fires off unlimited balls within the period from a machine dispenser. A small machine inside the batting cage gives you the option of choosing the speed of the ball or pressing the emergency stop button. Overall, there are 8 batting cages and it’s partly shaded (the batting cage).
My advice is if you are a “puteri lilin” like me who can’t tolerate too much sun or heat, go at night. They are opened till midnight on fri and sat. Since there were 3 of us, I told the operator to split us up to 2 groups of 15 mins block from the 30 mins time frame. Me and LM in one cage while Mr. IBM fends for himself in the other cage. Hahahaha….Whoa, this batting thingy is actually more strenuous than I thought. Probably becos I used too much energy swinging the bats and I especially loathe the low balls which had me cursing all the way! And it was a mistake to play at 6pm when the sun was still around (scolded Mr. IBM for choosing that time slot).
I was practically dripping with sweat under the sweltering heat not helped by the wearing of the protective helmet which made it even more stifling. The helmets are optional but fortunately I wore it cos LM was hitting the balls upwards towards the sky so some of them fell down and hit me. Adoi!! I waved my bat in jest and told her to aim it elsewhere before accidents happened. After awhile, I took over from Mr. IBM cos he seemed to have sprained his wrist from his over-enthusiasm. Haiya…really ‘mah farn’ ar…All in all, I had a really great time and wouldn’t mind going back for more batting games. Makes me think back of the days that I used to play ’rounders’ (similar to baseball) in school.
