I am getting old and forgetful, that i readily admit. This got to the point that I have actually forgotten my username and password into editing this blog even though I was trying to write at some point after the Facebook addiction wore off. Gosh, that was embarrassing. I thought very hard but there was no Eureka moment. Frankly, I couldn’t even recall which email address I used for this blog, which you need to retrieve the forgotten password (I do have quite a few email addresses, some of which was deleted due to virus/hacking). So there, premature Alzheimer for me…I guess it must have spread from my spouse.
Facebook is finally listed and the founder got married the day after, in his backyard no less…Wow, great news. I would have expected a fancy wedding to go with his position. But we are not talking about the typical billionaire here, so what’s quirky certainly generated more buzz I guess. I do envy his wife though, who no longer needs to work for money like us all and sundry, but as a matter of preference and passion. I wonder when will that day come for me, working for passion that is…
On Facebook though, I am quite bored of it, so this is also one of the reasons I have returned to blogging . I simply can’t keep up with the numerous format changes (that is also one of the symptoms of getting old -> inflexibility). It used to be so simple. Now, to look at my friend’s photo albums, I need to go to their timeline and click on photos instead or chance upon it when they do publish at the same time I am logged on to Facebook. And what is it about timeline, really. I don’t enjoy looking at it, it’s difficult to see all the postings scattered everywhere. I still prefer the old format, where you can read or scanned through all the posts in one page. This is especially useful when you are playing games and need to send gifts to your “neighbours”. Now, I practically stopped playing Zynga games ending with xxx-ville, firstly, because it became a “job” to me (you know plant, plant, harvest, harvest) and secondly, the unfriendly format.
So, guess what….sometimes, I still go to my beloved old neigbourhood and goto the banks, eat at the kopi tiam, throw my letters into the post office box etc…I basically know where each shop is located at the back of my hand…I just go there, run in and get out…saves more time that way….also, gives me the comfort that my stuff have been dealt with properly…old habits die hard I suppose…the sense of familiarity is very comforting…
Nowadays, I drive about an hour (min) to reach my workplace. To and fro means approx 2 hours of travelling on the highway. Sigh! My old office used to be a mere 5 mins drive away from my old house…those were definitely the good old days!! Even my new office was only a 20mins drive away. Gees….now, I know what a godsend my old house is!
